Unto Righteousness : Unto Salvation

Why it’s UNTO and NOT to

For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth UNTO righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made UNTO salvation.

    Holy Bible, Romans 10:5-10 KJV

Modern ‘bibles’ replace the word unto with to, and thereby lose the full sense of these precious words from God’s heart and lips.

Thank God, He’s preserved His written words for us perfectly in the KJV, so we can understand His will, and honour Him by fulfilling it.

The word “unto” is a preposition derived from the middle English word “until”, with “til” subsequently replaced in common usage by to, making; unto.

You’ll agree that until and unto do not mean the same as to, do they?

Unto carries the present-continuous tense, and sense, whereas to does not.

“To” could mean anything, at anytime, random and distant.

Unto is far more definite in meaning

With that in mind, please re-read the scripture, to get the sense unto imparts, and you’ll be blessed.

For with the heart man believeth UNTO righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made UNTO salvation.

    Can you perceive it now?

If not, ask Father to reveal it to your heart.

Unto also fits with many other scriptures teaching us that the unsaved sinner needs to both believe in his heart and confess with his mouth BEFORE he has what is promised.

You were not saved when you first believed in your heart on Christ as risen LORD.

But only AFTER you believed in your heart and then began confessing with your mouth the LORD Jesus.

You remember that event plainly don’t you?

Who could forget when the LORD of Glory entered their heart, bringing; divine Life, eternal peace, and joy unspeakable and full of glory.

The same principal applies to Christians all the time, not merely when they initially receive Christ as LORD.

    Conclusion:

Heart belief MUST always be expressed in both your words and actions to fulfil the scriptural standard of faith in Christ.

Have you responded to Christ’s Good News yet?

    What Good News?

The Good News of the good things Christ has already done for everyone.

Good news if you are a sinner, The LORD Jesus Christ has borne your sin, while you are still sinning.

    Why?

So that when you repent from unbelief and believe on Him, your sin and guilt can be remitted, and your heavenly account will be made clean as snow instead of black as night.

    So what?

Quit rejecting His redemption offered to you today, and accept Christ as LORD and Saviour.

The good news that God in The Flesh has not only borne your sin, guilt and punishment, but also took your diseases and sickness on Himself at Calvary.

    Why?

So that as you believe on Him and follow in His steps you will be healed, set free from sickness and all Satan’s power.

    So what?

So accept His redemption of both your spirit and your body and be totally healed inside and out.

The Good News that God has come from Heaven and fixed your sin problem once and for all.

    Why?

Because you’re lost in sin and bound by demon power, unable to break free.

    So what?

So repent from unbelief, the greatest sin of all; believe on Christ as LORD and Saviour, and you will know you are free forever, and will be welcomed into Heaven.
